In September 2016, Paxton Primary School opened the doors of its new 3700m2, three form entry, 720 pupil primary school, replacing an existing one form entry school on the same site which remained in operation as the new building was constructed.
Addressing the challenging programme and site constraints, an offsite modular solution was adopted to provide a weathertight building as soon as possible, allowing for fit out and external envelope works to proceed simultaneously.
A brick slip system was used for the majority of the facade, with a decorative projecting brick pattern articulating the two double height halls, placed upon one another, which were constructed using a traditional steel frame.
