This project was a 55,000sqft headquarters relocation project for Bupa in the City of London. The relocation project was the catalyst for business transformation and culture change for Bupa’s 450 central London staff. There was high level of staff engagement from the beginning with multiple workshops, interviews, and surveys. The early briefing established the key drivers for the business, including flexible team-based working, creating a new central London hub for visitors and clients and integration of leadership team into the heart of the business.
Additionally, working in the healthcare insurance sector Bupa wanted the highest standards for their staff to support wellbeing. We recommended and integrated the Fitwel accreditation system into the project and achieved the highest 3-star rating, one of the first projects in the UK at the time.
Designed whilst Fiona Ballance was a Principal at Perkins & Will London
I personally found Fiona a good listener, responsive to our suggestions and yet clear in holding us to account to deliver against our original objectives. She was also very effective at managing senior stakeholders and had high standards in terms of both cost and environmental efficiency.
