25 Gordon Street, UCL

25 Gordon Street was taken over by UCL in the 1950’s, having been originally built as the Endsleigh Place Hotel in 2895 and converted to a military hospital for Tropical Diseases for the Seamen’s Hospital Society.

The building accommodates a range of facilities for UCL including the Student’s Union, staff offices and a range of teaching spaces for the Physics and Mathematics Departments.

Our task was to unpack the various activities, rationalise the layout and improve the entrance area, re-provide a shop and refurbish the existing “Gordon’s Café”. Bold graphics, bespoke furniture complement the replanned space which improved the significant footfall through the space.

Sustainability and inclusiveness were the key to this deceptively simple overhaul of a tired reception space, with 99 per cent of waste materials recycled.
